PageStream automatically breaks lines as text nears the right edge of a frame. You can force PageStream to break a line in any spot by pressing Return, but this will start a new paragraph. PageStream also allows you to start a new line without starting a new paragraph.
To specify a line break: Place the insertion point where you want the line to break. Hold down Shift and press Return. This will start a new line instead of a new paragraph. The new line will be part of the paragraph, but text after the New Line code will be word wrapped separately.
Page and column breaks are useful when you want to force part of an article to begin at the top of a column or frame. You could press Return until the insertion point was at the start of a new column or frame, but editing the previous text later would require you to check your entire document for errors.
Inserting a column break will force the following text to begin at the top of the next column, and a page break will force the text to begin at the top of the next frame.
To insert a page or column break: Place the insertion point and choose Page Break or Column Break from the Insert submenu in the Type menu.
