GENERAL TIPS
Make sure your CD-ROM drive is connected, turned on, and working properly; that your monitor is set to display at least 256 colors; and that your sound volume is turned up. (See your computer or sound-card manual or contact your dealer if necessary.)
If a page does not load properly within the site, (missing graphics or photos) click on the "Reload" button on the top Netscape toolbar.
The "Related Sites" links at the bottom of the stories will take you to the Internet. These sites are not part of the 24 Hours in Cyberspace web site or CD-ROM - they are maintained by the people in our stories. Some sites may take some time to access and load. Please be patient!
If you have an older version of RealAudio installed, delete it and use the copy included in
the installer.
Quit any unnecessary programs that may be using memory.
If your computer is capable of displaying thousands or millions of colors, the photographs and videos will look much crisper.
If the Making of 24 Hours in Cyberspace video does not play smoothly, turn off Virtual Memory (in the Memory control panel on Macintosh, in the 386 Enhanced control panel on Windows).
WINDOWS USERS
You must run the installer that is provided on this CD-ROM. If you already have the software listed, select the custom install option and turn off each software option. The installer will then only install the "Program Group". The "Program Group" are the icons that will allow you to access the contents of the CD.
Make sure no other programs are running in Windows
After you have run the installer, remember that the 24 Hours in Cyberspace icons will be located in either your Program Manager or Program Menu. You cannot access the site directly from the CD-ROM drive.
MACINTOSH USERS
If you would like to reinstall any of the software included this CD, you'll need to rename or trash the old 24 Hours in Cyberspace folder.
If you are running a version of Netscape Navigator other than the one included on the installer, click once on your Netscape Navigator application icon and select Get Info from the File menu. Increase the preferred memory size to 8000 on a PowerPC, or 6500 on a 68040.
If you have multiple copies of Netscape Navigator on your hard drive, "drag and drop" the 24 Hours in Cyberspace globe icon onto the copy of Netscape Navigator you would like to use (version 2.02 or higher is required).
If you are having trouble with any of the applications in the "Cool Free Software" Folder, please contact the manufacturer directly:
