Roger Ressmeyer is a world-renowned editorial and advertising photographer specializing in space technology, science, and celebrity portraiture. From 1987 to 1995, he worked nearly full-time as a freelance contributor to National Geographic magazine. Other recent clients include Life, Time, Newsweek, Discover, Smithsonian, The New York Times Magazine, Stern, Geo, and Apple Computer. At the beginning of his career, Ressmeyer photographed more than 200 stories for People. Over the past 20 years, his award-winning work has appeared in nearly every major publication on the planet. Ressmeyer now serves as editor in the Media Development department of Corbis Corporation, Bill Gates' "other" software company, a private multimedia and digital photo archive company. He leads the company's program to license the photo archives of contemporary photographers. His 1991-92 award-winning global assignment on volcanoes for National Geographic has been turned into a CD-ROM,"Volcanoes, Life on the Edge", published in January 1996 by Corbis Publishing.
