Roberto Koch has exhibited his work in several Italian and international museums and galleries, and has had his work widely published in the international press. He began his career in photojournalism after completing his Ph.D. in Electronics at the University of Rome. In 1981, he published the book Augusto e Gli Altri (Mazzota), research on the conditions of handicapped boys in Italy. His book Istanti di Russia, a collection of his best work in Russia, won the Kodak Prize for Photography in 1988. He collaborated with Gianni Berengo Gardin and Ferdinando Scianna on In Treno, a reportage on Italy as seen by train. Koch is the founder of the photo agency Contrasto.
