Judy Griesedieck

Judy Griesedieck was a staff photographer for the San Jose Mercury News from 1983-1990, covering events such as the 1984 Democratic Convention, two Super Bowls, the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics and numerous special projects. She was named California Photographer of the Year in 1986 and in 1987 was Runner-Up in the Canon Photo Essayist category in the University of Missouri Pictures of the Year contest for a project she did on California's nursing homes. She was named Region 10 Photographer of the Year in 1989 by the National Press Photographer's Association for her work at the Mercury News. Before coming to San Jose, she was a staff photographer at the Hartford Courant, where she was named Connecticut Photographer of the Year in 1983. She has participated in numerous book projects including Christmas in America, Jews in America, A Day in the Life of California, A Day in the Life of China, A Day in the Life of Italy, A Circle of Life, The Power to Heal and Baseball in America. She is currently a freelance photographer based in Minneapolis working for clients such as Time, Life, U.S. News & World Report, Newsweek, Smithsonian, People, USA Today, the New York Times, and a number of corporate clients.
