J. B.Forbes

J.B. Forbes graduated with a BA in photojournalism from the University of Kansas in 1973, and worked as a photo lab assistant at the Topeka Capital Journal under Rich Clarkson for two years. Upon graduation, he was employed as the sole photographer at the Parsons Sun, in Parsons, Kansas. From 1973-1975 he worked as a staff photographer at the Miami News. He has worked as a photographer and photo editor for the St. Louis Dispatch since 1975, covering sports and international news. In 1990, he was given the title of Director of Photography, and has worked in that position until the present time. His work has won numerous awards: among them, he was named College Photographer of the Year in 1975, first place in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Contest in 1977, the Overseas Press Club's Madeline Dane Ross Award in 1985, and was a finalist in the Pulitzer Prize competition for Mexico City earthquake coverage in 1986. His photographs have been published in Sports Illustrated, Time, Newsweek, Forbes, Women's World, Esquire and others.
