Nicole Bengiveno UNITED STATES Nicole Bengiveno's feature photograph on the Soviet Union won her first place awards in 1987 and 1989 from the New York Associated Press while she was on staff at the New York Daily News. Before moving to New York, she shot for the San Francisco Examiner for eight years and was named photographer of the year in 1979. She has photographed Soviet Central Asia and Albania for the National Geographic and has participated in the Day in the Life book series since 1980.
