Ragnar Axelsson began his career as a photojournalist with Morgunblad, Iceland's largest newspaper, in 1976. His photographs and picture essays have been published around the world in publications that include Life, National Geographic, Le Figaro, Stern, La Vanguardia and Time. In 1990, he published "Rekjavik", a book of one hundred color images of Rekjavik city. He is an eight-time winner of The Annual Icelandic Photojournalist Award, including Photographer of the Year, Documentary Story of the Year, and News Photographer of the Year.
