Description The open a document action works similarly to the Start an Application action with the exception that it is designed to open document files (as opposed to program files) using the associated application of the specified file.

Parameters

Document
The full path and filename to the document you wish to open.

Make this a deployable
Deployables are an advanced topic having to do with referencing filenames that are included as packages with a task that is being exported for use on another machine or deployed using AutoMate Enterprise Server. This checkbox appears on all actions that include a parameter for a filename. Click here for more on using Deployables.

For Example

Specifiying the path and filename of a .DOC file would probably result in the system opening Microsoft Word (or WordPad if Word is not installed) with the specified document. Similarly, if a .TXT file is specified, Notepad would probably be the application which would open it.
