Free For The Taking

Ed McMahon couldn't make it, so we're just going to go ahead and hand these out. We've chosen a couple of sound effects from our collection and put them here for downloading via FTP. Remember, all of these multimedia-ready sounds are in AIFF format, so they're ready for any Macintosh or Windows computer.

Every sound effect in the collection has been recorded at 44.1 kHz/16 bit and 22.05 kHz/8 bit. Here are a few of our best. La creme de la creme. (That's 44/16 for you techies.)

Links to sound files are disabled for this demo version. See Earshot in the Resource folder on this CD for sound samples.
44.1kHz | 16-bit
Arc Hum Build.aiff[501K]
Neck Crack.aiff[345K]
Zap Slink.aiff[701K]

The best is nice, but since we're here on the Web, let's deal with that reality. Today the extravagance of 44 kHz audio on the Web is as welcome as that fifteen pound fruit cake brick you got at Christmas. We've downsampled (to 11.025 kHz/8 bit) a bunch of our sound effects for ready-made Web nirvana.

11.025kHz | 8-bit
Explosion.aiff[46K]
Gore.aiff[33K]
Squeaks.aiff[7K]

Perhaps you've heard of Java. Well, Java is finicky about sound. So we've downsampled part of our collection to 8 kHz/8 bit. That makes Java happy.

8kHz | 8-bit
Deep Pulse.aiff[13K]
Industrial Pulse.aiff[20K]
Power Stutter.aiff[13K]

Still want more? Here's a browser that you can use to explore 36 of the more than 50 categories of our collection. There's one sound effect per category. We've paired each of them up with a simple animation for your viewing pleasure.
