Interpolation

Isolines are generated by interpolating point values onto the grid nodes. This is achieved by some methods. This can be a lengthy process for a fine grid.

The “Objects - > Gridding Method” menu allows three methods of interpolation:

  • System of linear equations
  • Triangulation
  • Inverse Distance (source – UNCERT)

The program set values along the map border if the border value is assigned.

Isolines will be closed if the border value is assigned. By default, isolines terminate at the border.

“File->Save numerical data” writes the 2D array of interpolation results into a text file.

After interpolation, a dialog menu sets the initial isoline and the frequency of isolines through the step size or number of isolines.
