   Tips and Usage

Maximum Transfer Unit

• Different data protocols have different package sizes that cannot be exceeded.
• Knowledge of the Maximum Transfer Unit is required by TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) so that the package sizes can be optimized to prevent fragmentation during transmission across the internet. 
• If you use a modem to connect to the internet then use the modem settings as shown below or if you use a Local Area Network to connect then use the LAN settings.
• Maximum Transfer Unit controls the way in which data TCP/IP Packets are received.
• Use 576 if you use a modem,1000 if you use a modem or LAN ,and 1500 if you use a LAN.
• Use the Automatic Optimal Settings ,if the other settings don't work for you.

Receive Window

Receive Window, is the amount of unacknowledged data than can be outstanding on a TCP connection.Windows can only store one  system-wide value for RWIN. Therefore, if you have a Modem on your computer, you may wish to choose any  of  the three numeric values.If you Use a LAN ,then use Automatic Optimal settings

Time to Live Archive 

• Windows 95 and 98 default value is 32 .
• Setting the value to high will increase the time taken to detect dead packets. Setting it too low can prevent packets from reaching their intended destination. 
• Use the values provided and see which one works best for you.
• If none works right for you then use Automatic optimal settings

Path Maximum Transfer Unit (PMTU)

• Set PMTU to 576 if you use a modem
• Set PMTU to 1500 if you use a LAN.

HTML Extract Time-Outs

• This value is set to none by HyperNet , So that you do not get many time outs
  during browsing. 
• Windows default value is 5 timeouts every 20 pages. 

Read Ahead Auto Scrolling

• Windows Default value is disabled.
• But most systems get a better result by  enabling this value.

Ndi Cache

• Windows Default value is 0.
• But most systems get a better result by using  16 value.
• Use 32 or 64 only if 16 doesn't works.

The Check Box settings

• Recommended value for Black Hole Enabled is Unchecked.
• Recommended value for Black hole detect is Unchecked.Check this value only if you have enabled the black hole by checking it .
• Auto Detect PMTU and Auto detect Path Values are best left checked.This enables the   system to automatically Detect The PMTU of the server from where the data packets are coming from

The Auto Buttons

• Use the Auto-Optimize Modem button for Automatically optimizing Your Modem settings.
• Use the Auto-Optimize LAN button for Automatically optimizing Your LAN settings.

Modem Dialing Speed

• Default - Sets the value to Windows default.
• Medium - Faster, works on most systems (Recommended)
• Fast - Fastest, makes the modem dial super fast but may not work on some systems.

Restore Defaults

• Restores all settings to original windows defaults.
