TurboIRC Fatal Errors

When you start TurboIRC , there is a possibility that you see one or more of these errors :

  1. Superclassing Edit failed
  2. Superclassing ListBox failed
  3. Superclassing Button failed
  4. Cannot initialize / use sockets ( 2,2 or later )
  5. RichEdit 2.0 Library Failed
  6. Cannot start service : Error XX

The first 3 errors describe a failure of a superclass . If you encounter such an error , please mail me your current system configuration .

Cannot initialize / use sockets and RichEdit 2.0 Library Failed , means that your PC either does not run Windows 95 / 98 / NT with Internet Explorer 4.0 or better | Netscape Navigator 4.0 or better , or you have not upgraded to WinSock 2.2 . If your message shows that you have an earlier version of WinSock , take a time to download the WinSock update from http://www.microsoft.com

Cannot start service errors occur when the service attempted to be start is already started by other program . For example . if you run a Nuke Protection and you configure TurboIRC to start its own Nuke Service , it will fail because another program already watches on that service . You must decide which of the programs you want to use .

Run-Time Errors .

TurboIRC most times will not allow Windows to terminate it immediately after a serious error . TurboIRC is in beta state and I am not sure if some small bugs already exist , but in any case , TurboIRC will show you an "Exception Error" dialog , telling you what excactly happened . Please mail me all this information . You will have time to complete your work with TurboIRC even if a crash occurs , before closing this dialog box , by pressing "Ignore" . The dialog box will then dissapear and you can continue your work .
