How to Copy a Single Block from Foundation Factory to Quilt-Pro

You can also select specific blocks by selecting the block from the Foundation Factory CD-ROM and copying it into your Quilt-Pro block directory.

  1. Choose Block/Open from the Quilt-Pro menu.
  2. In the drives box on the File Open dialog, choose whichever drive is your CD-ROM.
  3. Go to the QUILTPRO directory on the CD-ROM. There you will see the directories such as Airplane, Birds, etc., in the Directories box.
  4. Double click on the directory you wish to go to. Then click on the file you wish to open, and click on the Open button.
  5. Make any changes you wish and then save the block to the QUILTPRO directory on your hard drive.

How come the Foundation Factory blocks in Quilt-Pro do not have Text or Fabrics?

The text and fabrics were removed from the blocks because the text interferes with placing the block into a quilt. The blocks are colored white so that you can use your own colors and fabrics. With the exception of the text and fabric, the blocks are exact duplicates of the blocks in the Foundation Factory library.

Can Foundation Factory Print the Blocks I Created in Quilt-Pro?

Yes, Foundation Factory can print blocks that you create in Quilt-Pro. However, you can create and print foundation blocks in Quilt-Pro, so it is not necessary to print blocks you created with Quilt-Pro in Foundation Factory.

Can I make Changes to Blocks in the Foundation Factory Directories?

Yes, but we don't recommend it. If you make changes to a block in Foundation Factory, you will permanently alter the block on your hard drive. You may ruin the sectioning of the block, or alter the colors and fabrics. If you wish to experiment with a Foundation Factory block, use the copy of the block installed to your Quilt-Pro directory. We strongly recommend that you leave the blocks in the Foundation Factory alone.

You can't change the Blocks on the CD-ROM

Luckily, the Foundation blocks on the CD-ROM cannot be changed and you can always recover an altered block by copying the original block from the CD-ROM onto your hard-drive. Feel free to experiment with your Foundation Factory blocks in Quilt-Pro. There is always an original copy on your CD-ROM.

Help, I ruined a Foundation Block in Foundation Factory, How do I Get it Back?

If the altered block will not section, or otherwise does not look right, copy the block from the CD to appropriate Foundation Factory folder on your hard drive. The block copied from the CD will overwrite the block you altered and restore the original block.

Can I draw Blocks in Foundation Factory?

No, if you wish to draw your own blocks, you must draw them in Quilt-Pro.
