This Room thing, what's it all about then?

It's a brand spanking new ezine from VNU for starters, bestriding its Web publishing empire like a pair of well worn trousers. Its natural stamping ground is the interesting side of the cutting edge of computer technology (well away from the much duller crimping edge). Its brief is to stick its e-nose into things like computers and the Internet, computers and films, computers and sport. Look, basically, the slightest IT excuse to run a half-decent article, and we'll take it.

You navigate around the Room using the navigation bar on the left of your screen. Just click on the letters to glide seemlessly through our regular sections. I guess it might help you to know that 'n' is for news, 'r' for reviews, 's' stands for stuff, while 'a' is ads, 'd' is download from our ftp site, 'w' is for web-u-like - our guide to the Web, and 'tr' takes you back to the front page of the Room.

Each graphic on the front page main screen takes you to one of the features. These change all the time. There's also a table of contents in case you can't work out how to click on a graphic, and an archive in case you missed anything first time. Any links to Shockwave games or any other site that may appear from time to time on the front page are moved into Web-u-like when their days in the limelight have ended.

If you've never used frames before - they're the way your screen has divided into separate boxes - click on the help button in the bottom left hand corner for a few tips. You can also mail us by using the mail button down there. In the bottom right hand corner there's a fantastic Shockwave radio. Click on the radioactive sign to check it out. That's it. Just return to front page by clicking on 'tr' or here if you're in the 'noframe' version of the site.
