The Sea Trout, Staverton, Devon (Johansens, Egon Ronay, Good Pub Guide). The Sea Trout is a pleasant
roadside inn, which does wonderful seafood - we had an excellent sea bass there. Johansens had the best
directions and gave a good feel for what the place would be like, but skimped on detail of food or beer. Egon
Ronay also concentrated on feel, limiting remarks on food to 'the extensive bar menu features local produce,
notably fresh fish, and additional blackboard specials are offered'. Three beers are listed, and the Sea Trout gets
symbols for good food, good seafood, good selection of British cheese and a range of wines at the bar. The
Good Pub Guide lists an impressive selection of food (e.g. pork and apple sausages at ú3.95 and whole grilled
Brixham plaice at ú6.50) and adds some examples of the guest beer to the three standards.
