Class Action

Makes exploiting the Windows API a breeze

Welcome to ClassAction by the Crescent Division of Progress Software (Crescent). ClassAction unleashes the power of the Windows API by providing Visual Basic 4.0 developers with an object interface to the API. Instead of declarations and function calls, ClassAction is objects with properties and methods.

Using ClassAction is a snap! The ClassAction installation program installs and registers the necessary components.

To access ClassAction in a Visual Basic 4.0 project, do the following:

1. Start Visual Basic and load a project. 2. Select References command from the Tools menu in Visual Basic. 3. If you are using the 16-bit version of Visual Basic then locate and check the Crescent Foundation Objects 16 bit entry. For the 32-bit version of Visual Basic, locate and check the Crescent Foundation Objects entry. Then click OK. 4. Save your project.

The ClassAction DLL is registered for use in your project. Now you can dimension variables as any of the objects described in this help file.

For example, to display the computer name you can use the foSystem object:

Dim SystemObject As New foSystem Debug.Print SystemObject.ComputerName

This example works only under the 32-bit version of Visual Basic 4.0 since ComputerName is a WIN32-only property.
