QuickApp

What is QuickApp ?

QuickApp is a communications middleware development tool for creating graphical user interfaces to host applications. With QuickApp, you can redesign your host applications into true client-server applications that offer all of the benefits of the Microsoft Windows graphical user interface.

QuickApp helps you develop client-server applications that integrate information from one host or multiple hosts. For example, you can develop a single QuickApp application that integrates information from one 3270 host and one 5250 host. And from that same QuickApp application, you can access multiple sessions on each host.

QuickApp lets you record the screens and keystrokes you use when you interact with your host application. When you finish recording the components you need for your application, you then use one of the supported development tools to develop your client-server application.

QuickApp provides five custom controls for Visual Basic, PowerBuilder, and Visual C++ and three custom controls for SQLWindows and ObjectView. The custom controls allow you to access the recorded information; associate host fields with controls on your application windows; transfer files between the PC and a 3270 host using IND$FILE, FT/Express, and PS/CICS; display a live host session (Visual Basic, PowerBuilder, and Visual C++ only); and receive notification of communications engine events (Visual Basic, PowerBuilder, and Visual C++ only).

Note: QuickApp currently supports file transfers only in the 3270 environment.
