SQL-Sombrero/VBX is an interface to CT-Library a Sybase SQL Server (version 10.0 or greater) API for C programmers. It provides functions used to build SQL Server front-end applications for the Windows operating environment. It allows Visual Basic to interact directly with Sybase SQL Server. The functions allow a developer to easily make connections with SQL Server databases, send Transact-SQL statements, and process their results.
Have you ever wanted to access your SQL Server without resorting to using ODBC or any indirect layer tool? The SQL-Sombrero/VBX for CT-Library is your solution!!!
SQL-Sombrero/VBX for CT-Library component will allow you to do just that. The SQL-Sombrero/VBX is a Visual Basic Extension that provides the direct interface to use CT-Library functions without using C or C++.
Direct access to the SYBASE CT-Library functions! SQL-Sombrero/VBX for CT-Library allows direct access to SYBASE CT-Library functions from any product that use Visual Basic VBX files.
Direct access to CT-Library from Visual Basic! In conjunction with Visual Basic you can have total control over accessing SYBASE SQL Server and Gateways. It can also be used to replace the use of ODBC or VBSQL when using SQL-Sombrero/VBX or SQL-Sombrero/OLE for CT-Library.
SQL-Sombrero/VBX for CT-Library contains all the CT-Library functionality (over 125 functions) SQL-Sombrero/VBX for CT-Library includes Windows on-line help! SQL-Sombrero/VBX for CT-Library gives access to all CT-Library Bulk-Copy routines SQL-Sombrero/VBX for CT-Library maps each CT-Library Callback into an SQL-Sombrero event
The SQL-Sombrero/VBX component will allow you to do just that. The SQL Sombrero/VBX component provides the interface necessary to use CT-Library functions without using C or C++.
SQL-Sombrero/VBX application programming interface allows access to the CT-Library functions from any product such as Visual Basic that can use a VBX file.
The SQL-Sombrero/VBX component contains an Application Programming Interface (API) providing direct access to the functionality of CT-Library. It also allows access to the data on the server, access to the Bulk Copy routines and access to the error, notification messages and all other CT-Library callbacks which are sent by the SQL Server to the application.
How does the application programmer use the SQL-Sombrero/VBX programming interface? First the programmer must add the SQLCTLIB.VBX to the Visual Basic project. Then, an "include" file where all CT-Library functions are declared must also be added to the Visual Basic project. Once this is completed, the programmer will have access to the complete CT-Library function set through the SQL-Sombrero/VBX programming interface.
Programming using the SQL-Sombrero/VBX component is accomplished by using the exposed API. This API maps directly to CT-Library functions. This is accomplished without the need to know how SQL-Sombrero/VBX interfaces with CT-Library.
The SQL-Sombrero/VBX component is used to present to the user an easy to use Application Programming Interface (API) in Visual Basic. This programming interface is fully Visual Basic compliant. The SQL-Sombrero/VBX component defines a set of methods (functions) and makes those methods available to other applications to enable programmability through the Application Programming Interface (API).
