Changing your audio and video settings

You can change the audio and video settings of Windows Media Player using the Now Playing feature. Use Now Playing to watch video or visualizations (if you are listening to music) and to adjust the equalizer and video settings. Now Playing includes the following areas: a display area where you watch video or visualizations; a playlist area, which is used for selecting the items to play and shuffling items in the playlist; and a controls area, which is used for changing the equalizer, video, and audio effects. The controls area is hidden by default.

You can watch videos and visualizations using your full monitor screen by clicking the Now Playing feature, clicking the View menu, and then clicking Full Screen. A video or visualization must be playing for the Full Screen command to be available. To exit full screen mode, press ESC.

When watching videos, you can change the size of the video display in Windows Media Player. Click the Now Playing feature, point to Zoom, and then click one of the following:

Note   You must select the Digital playback check box for visualizations to work when playing a CD track. To verify that the check box is selected, on the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the CD Audio tab.
