REVIEWS AND FEATURES
Freenet 0.1b
Not to be confused with the ISP of the same name, Freenet is in early development or æproof of conceptÆ stage. This file sharing network has a lot in common with Gnutella. Instead of logging into a central server, users connect to each other and make documents available to each other. Its stated aim is to provide an uncensored network which also hides the identity and location of the documents. The downside is that there is no proper search engine. While there are some solutions to this problem, this makes it quite difficult to use. The best way to find a file is to guess at what it may be called. It is worth investigating this concept, but there are few files on offer for people interesting in just downloading files.
