- I cannot get HyCd play & record menu to work. The menu just disappears after a few seconds.
The "menu" that appears after booting or double-clicking on the HyCD desktop icon is meant to
be a tutorial. None of the pictures on the menu are actual buttons. HyCD play & record does not have a GUI interface (or wizards). Most functions of the software are accomplished by
right-click options through My Computer. See How To
- How do I start the HyCD software?
HyCD automatically starts running when you start your system.
- Is copying my CDs legal?
HyCD does not condone copying CDs illegally. There are many copyright laws you should be familiar with before you copy any CD. Please see this reference.
- How do I eject a CD from the CD Recorder?
Right mouse click on the CD reader or recorder icon, select Eject
- Does it support my recorder?
A list of supported recorders can be found on our web site at www.HyCD.com/html/prsystem.html
- What is the difference between Test & Write and Write options in the Properties window?
When you set Recording Mode default to Test & Write, this will test the
before recording to CD. Because of the testing, this method takes longer to record the CD, but it will automatically find the optimal writing speed for your system and assure a quality recording.
If you set Recording Mode default to Write, you can record to CD directly without testing. Without the Test Write operation, total recording time is reduced but it may cause Data Underrun.
-- For more information, please read Preventing Data Underrun.
- After recording some MP3 and /or WAV files to a cd, upon playback the files sound like chipmunks.
The files probably started out as Mono Wav files. The best way to troubleshoot this is
to try ad manually decode the MP3 files using our HyCD Sampler Program (found in Start/ Programs/ HyCD play & record/ HyCD Sampler). Decode the MP3 file to 44100, 16 bit, stereo. If the decoding
process works then you can record the WAV file to the CD.
- After installing the software I only see a welcome screen then nothing. Why?
HyCD play & record does nut use an interface. Instead, all software functions are available through the
windows interface. To learn more about the software's functions please visit our web site at www.HyCD.com and view the tutorial.
- How do I turn off the intro message that I hear every time I restart my computer?
Double-click on the HyCD system tray icon. Select "Do not play audio". This option will only turn off
the intro message.
- When I right-click on a drive letter, "HyCD Copy" and "HyCD Paste" are greyed out.
Please make sure you have Internet Explorer 4.0 w/ Service Pack 1 installed on your system. This is a requirement
for HyCD Play & Record.

- Cannot see HyCD in the right mouse click options
Exit the software by right mouse clicking on the HyCD icon in the System Tray; select Exit Restart HyCD Play and Record
- Unable to use HyCD Player to play songs from the CD Reader or Recorder
HyCD Player currently supports a set of CD readers and recorders. As we develop new versions of our product, we will support
more. However, you can still use HyCD Copy and Paste to extract the audio and play it back on your computer.
- There is a popping noise when extracting audio files
If there is a popping noise when extracting the audio files, then reduce the read speed of that drive. To do this, go to the Properties of the reader
and reduce the Read Speed.
- I have a fast CD reader, but when I try to create MP3 files from a CD it appears to be reading at a low speed. What's happening?
Most CD readers, although rated faster than 6X for data reading, can
only extract audio at 6X reliably. Because of this, we set the audio extraction speed to 6X by default. If this is still too fast, the speed will be reduced automatically until the correct setting is
reached. The only readers that can extract audio at a higher speed reliably are made by Plextor. If you use one of these readers the software will extract audio at a higher speed.
- I just downloaded your 10 day free trial software. The installation put HyCD in my startup. When I bootup it freezes my computer. I started the system in safe mode and removed the program from
startup. But now when I click on HyCD, it just freezes my computer. I have to crash to reboot.
edit the file in Windows directory called system.ini
delete [vcache] section(minfilecache, maxfilecache) in the system.ini file. save it and reboot the system. Use the latest version instead of the older version.
