The Dynamic
Host Configuration Protocol is used to assign information such as
IP addresses, gateway IPs and DNS server addresses to clients over
a network. DHCP is commonly used on large networks to simplify administration.
Some ADSL ISPs require you to use DHCP to obtain an IP address after
connecting to their service.
