Forget the past for a speedy future

System 7.5 or later keeps track of the programs, files and even servers that you use during a day's work, and places aliases of all of these items in the "Recently Used . . ." folders, accessible from the Apple menu. This makes it easier and faster to get at work you've been doing recently, without having to dig down through folders.

Unfortunately, all of this tracking can slow you down, especially in the case of Recent Servers. If you don't use this feature, it's best to switch it off, which you can do using the Apple Menu Options control panel. Simply open the control panel and click on the "Remember Recently Used Items" button.

Super tip: if you want to turn off only one of these options ù for instance, if you like keeping track of recently-used documents and apps but don't need to track servers ù simply type a zero into the text box next to the item you don't need in the Apple Menu Options control panel.
