By integrating the Web and the desktop, Internet Explorer makes the desktop and its folders look and work more like the Web.
Users can now browse their computers just as they browse the Webùand they can browse the Web from nearly anywhere on their computer. They'll find the Go and Favorites menus everywhere. They can also add "active content," such as a stock ticker, to their desktop, the taskbar, or folders. They can also single-click files to run and open them.
By using the IEAK, you can control whether the Windows Desktop Update is installed with the browser. If you're a corporate administrator, you can set up a "corporate desktop" so that the Windows Desktop Update looks and functions the same on all computers in your company. To do this, you just specify the settings on your computer that you want users to have, and then import these settings. You'll be prompted for this in Stage 4 of the wizard.
In Stage 4, you can also customize My Computer and Control Panel. You can add graphics and helpful information, such as links to support information.
You can also control whether or not users can change these settings, as well as security and proxy settings. You can specify these settings in Stage 5 of the IEAK wizard or by using the IEAK Profile Manager. Then you can control profiles on an ongoing basis by using the automatic browser configuration feature.
