Pre-Installation Information -------------------------------- Please refer to the readme.txt for general information about Service Pack 1 prior to installing. This text file is located on the root of the CD media. Information about the individual pieces comprising Service Pack 1 can be found in the component directories. Service Pack 1 is designed to be used as a supplement to the Windows 98 gold product. This update is not intended to be run on Windows 95, or Windows 98 Second Edition. Determination whether Service Pack 1 is installed can be performed by the following: A. From the Start menu, Run command, envoke MSInfo by typing msinfo32.exe B. Using the Microsoft System Information utility, expand "Software Enviromnet" from the System Information list. C. Select "Software Updates" to show information about updates and components installed to your system. II. Installing Service Pack 1 in the corporate environment ----------------------------------------------------------- Two common options for installing the CSP in a corporate environment are installing from a shared CD or installing from a shared flat directory. Discussed below are considerations for both of these options. A. Installing the CSP from a shared CD Setup of Service Pack 1 is envoked by running setup.exe from the root of the CD. Please note that autorun.exe is only when installing locally from CD media. B. Installing the CSP from a shared flat directory If the contents are copied to a shared flat directory, the directory structure should be preserved. Setup of Service Pack 1 is envoked by running setup.exe from the root of the CD. Please note that autorun.exe is only when installing locally from CD media.
