Trumpet Winsock (or any communications program) tells the modem to do something, like dial or hang up, by issuing an AT command (a command that begins with the letters AT).
To cure Winsock of its rude phone behaviour, select Dialer--Edit Scripts, and select the bye.cmd script. Find the line that reads "Output ATH0/n" and change it to read Output ATH0&D2S0=0. Then enter the command set DTR off. Select File--Save, and exit back to Trumpet.
When you tell the modem to hang up, its DTR signal will drop, disconnecting the modem. In the modem's memory, its S register 0 is set with a decimal value indicating the number of rings the modem will wait before answering a call. Setting this register to 0 disables the modem's auto-answer feature.
