Exclusions

The exclusions dialog allows you to specify which IP adresses, hostnames and dnsnames may not be counted in traffic and statistics. You can use this feature, for example if you are connected to the internet with internet sharing, to exclude network traffic with that server. If you add the IP of the server that servers as a gateway all the traffic directed to that server will not be counted. This way, only external traffic (for example to the internet) is displayed. To add a new IP, enter an IP, hostname or DNS name in the IP textfield and click on the "Add" button.

You can also add an IP range. Only IP adresses are valid here (no hostnames). Packets intended for sources and destinations with an IP located between the starting (first) IP adres and the ending (second) IP adres will not be counted.

Sometimes a local application communicates to another local application using TCP/IP. This traffic will also be visible unless the "Exclude local TCP/IP traffic" option is enabled. In this case, only traffic is counted that goes outside the local machine or comes in from a remote computer.
