Hard Drive Inspector setup

Windows NT 4.0 / 2000 / XP / 2003

To setup Hard Drive Inspector on Windows NT 4.0 / 2000 / XP / 2003, you must have administratorÆs privileges because Hard Drive Inspector has to install the hddsvc.exe service (HDD Information Service) for its execution. By default, HDD Information Service is executed with the rights of the Local System Account, which must have access to each logical disk of your HDDs and read/write access to the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software" registry node. However, you can use Hard Drive Inspector even with the rights of a common user.

Windows 95 / 98 / ME

Hard Drive Inspector uses the smartvsd.vxd driver for Hard Drive Inspector setup on Windows 95 / 98 / ME. If it is not installed on your computer, the installer should copy it to the system folder Windows\System\IoSubSys and then asked to reboot in order to provide the ability for Windows to activate this driver. There is no need to reboot if the driver already exists in this folder.
