Active Virus Shield recommends a full scan system after install. By default, it is also configured to perform a full scan and a critical area scan automatically every day.

If you want to explicitly run a scan, you can do so anytime by selecting the Scan My Computer task. This window presents, on the right-hand side, statistics for the most recent computer scans. It also shows the level of protection and previous actions taken. From this window, click the Scan button on the right-hand side of the screen. This will launch the scan, and the details will be shown in a special window that you can hide, if you so desire. The window will close without stopping the scan.
