A file system can contain viruses and other dangerous programs. Malicious programs can reside in your computerÆs file system once they get in. If you ever open or access the infected file (for example, try to copy it to a disk) the virus is instantly activated.
File Anti-Virus - the component that monitors the computer's file system. It scans all files that can be opened, executed or saved on your computer and all attached disk drives. Each file that you open will be intercepted by Active Virus Shield and scanned for known viruses. The file can only be used further if the file is not infected or is successfully treated by Active Virus Shield. If a file cannot be disinfected for any reason, it will be deleted, and a copy of the file will be saved in backup, or moved to quarantine.
