********************************************************************** ** ** ** Special Information about Unique Computer Viruses TECHNOTE.TXT ** ** ** ** Symantec Security Response ** ** ** ********************************************************************** New data files added to the virus definitions on April 9, 2003 Situation: Symantec Security Response anticipates releasing version 2003.1 of the AV engine in the time period between April 30, 2003 and May 14, 2003 inclusive. The AV engine is the scanning and repair component within the virus definitions. Solution: In preparation for this release, several new data files will be added to the virus definitions starting on April 9, 2003, US Pacific time. These data files will not be used by the existing AV engines. There will be no functionality changes until the new engines themselves are released. The data files which will be added to the virus definitions on April 9, 2003, are listed below. NOTE: The following files (2 total) will be added to all definitions packages on all platforms.
