Keydisk
Want more security? Keydisk can give you more security.
SecureIt Pro's Keydisk function provides extra security for your desktop. Using a file stored on a disk as a 'key', Keydisk can essentially be used as a key to lock and unlock SecureIt Pro. The file is nearly guaranteed to be unique as it stores a random set of data coupled with miscellaneous information unique to your computer system, and also information about SecureIt Pro when it is locked - all this combines to form a high-security string of characters that is nearly impossible to match on any other computer system. Thus, the 'key' is unique to your computer.
To enable the Keydisk function, check the Enable Keydisk checkbox. Then, elect how you want Keydisk to be used.
Only Keydisk can lock/unlock | Only the Keydisk is used for locking and unlocking purposes. Passwords are not used. |
Both Keydisk AND Password are needed to lock/unlock | Both the Keydisk and the password are required for locking and unlocking purposes. Both Keydisk and password need to be valid and working for any locking/unlocking process to occur. This provides maximum security. |
Either Keydisk OR Password can unlock | Either the Keydisk or the password can be used to unlock SecureIt Pro. However, to lock SecureIt Pro, both must be used. |
Note: To use the Keydisk function effectively, a blank floppy disk should be inserted into the first removable drive (normally A:\) on your computer when you lock SecureIt Pro. However, remember to take the Keydisk away after SecureIt Pro has written to it.
