Does action to protect the environment in the creation of a page printer place an extra financial burden on the user ? Kyocera Mita believes the answer is "no". We hold that an environment-friendly printer with a long service life offers true economic advantages. This is the thinking behind our Ecosys printers. The key to realising the Ecosys ideal is cartridge-free technology: An Ecosys printer employs a drum coated with amorphous silicon. This material is so costly that it was not previously used in the average printer. However, it provides 30 times the durability of conventional drums and more-or-less eliminates the need for drum replacement. As a result, the garbage and expense created by conventional cartridge replacement are both avoided. Ecosys technology also promotes recycling since the superior hardness of amorphous silicon enables the use of recycled paper, which tends to damage conventional drums. With their minimal use of consumable items, longer service lives, and contribution to recycling, Ecosys printers offer ecological and economic advantages.
