Installation and use. -------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE BACKUP YOUR EXISTING PROJECTS. If you are upgrading from Version 1 we strongly recommend that you backup your Version 1 projects to a safe place (floppy, zip etc.) so that they cannot be accidentally overwritten by a Version 2 file of the same name. Once you have backed up your existing projects you can install Version 2 into the same directory as your Version 1 program. You should then be able to use your Version 1 projects in your new Version 2 program with a minimum of changes. Please note that although IMS Web Dwarf Version 2 can read your Version 1 IMS Projects, Version 1 cannot read projects that have been created by Version 2. Please ensure that you maintain backups of your V1 projects in case you decide to revert to Version 1 for any reason. TUTORIALS and HELP Although this program is distributed free, it includes many advanced features, functions and capabilities that you will not find even in expensive commercial products. To optimize its use we have included extensive documentation and hands-on tutorials. Both the Tutorials and Help documentation can be accessed from the Help menu. You will also find links to additional support aids including FAQ's and our on-line newsgroup where you can post any problems or questions related to the use this product. VERSION 2 FEATURES Version 2 has undergone significant changes, additions and updates from Version 1. Some of these new features include: 1. Fully integrated support for SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) the new standard from the W3C for vector graphics on the Internet. Simply select HTML or SVG in the publisher to export your project in your preferred format. 2. Enhanced vector editing including support for rounded rectangles, pie's and arcs. Switch to Object Edit mode to interactively select, move, rotate, stretch and skew most Objects including loaded bitmap images. 3. Enhanced page layout including a Snap-to grid, Snap-to tabs, rulers and pixel precision alignment. 4. Enhanced rendering with support for linear shading, cylindrical shading, radial shading and transparency. 5. Rendering of Titles into the background to produce shaded bitmaps. 6. Enhanced Text editor with numerous updates including an Automatic Link editor to quickly convert and edit your links. 7. A new Link Editor with settings for a title, underline, color, target window and other options. Links will automatically be converted to either an HTML or XML format when you publish HTML or SVG. Use the wild card .* extension to let the program automatically assign links with either a .html or .svg file type. 8. A new Quick Editor with rapid numerical display and updating of an Object's transformations, geometry and shading. 9. Enhanced FTP Publisher including added support for NN6 and IE6 HTML browsers and the Adobe SVG viewer. 10. New tutorials. Select the Help menu, How-To tutorials to learn how to use this software.
