DirectSound
device
System
device name - select sound device used for DirectSound output (default device will be
used if not set)
Output frequency - higher frequencies sound better but need more
CPU power. Most cards can't use higher frequency than at 48 kHz.
Callback - this feature is useful mainly for Win NT users. May
help solve problems with strange sound output.
Mono/Stereo - select whether stereo sound will be mixed into one
channel or not.
Output bits - directly influences sound quality. 16bit output sound
much better. There is not much influence on CPU power consumption.
Cooperative mode - sets how wil DirectSound act with your sound
device. If you don't know the differences, better let there the default
setting.
Settings - device volume and panning controls
Buffer settings - the smaller the buffer is, the faster the device
will react. Anyway, too low values may lead to uncontinuous sound output
Buffering priority - for lower buffer sizes increasing this option
may help to eliminate uncontinuous sound output.
Used software mixer - select which sound mixer will be used for
rendering sound output. At the time, there is only one mixer available.
AudioMate should support some hardware mixing soundcards in future.
