Note that all the settings are only virtual (so the mixer supposes that there is a device).
Output frequency - higher frequencies sound better but need more CPU power. Most cards can't use higher frequency than at 48 kHz.
Output bits - directly influences sound quality. 16bit output sound much better. There is not much influence on CPU power consumption.
Channels - number of virtually mixed channels
