Animations Describing Solar Corona Structure

The following animations do not capture the progress in time of the eclipse. They consist of a series of images showing different structures in the solar corona. This was achieved by various mathematical processing of images.

This animation captures the Bailey's beads on the third contact. The animation was made using a single picture taken with the MTO 1000a lens. In the image, the scattered light, caused mainly by diffraction, is suppressed to various levels. The animation requires a monitor resolution of over 1024 ╫ 768 pixels. Therefore I made a reduced version of the previous animation too.

This animation captures the prominences and the inner corona. The animation was created from 14 photographs taken with the MTO 1000a lens processed using the same procedure as was presented on the page describing the chromosphere image processing.

This animation captures, in a sequence, the prominences, inner, middle, and outer corona. The animation was created from 18 photographs taken using the Sonnar 2.8/200mm and MTO 1000a 10.5/1084mm lens. The images were processed using the same procedure as was presented on the page describing the chromosphere image processing.

This animation perfectly captures the structure of the inner corona. The animation was created from 12 photographs taken with the MTO lens. By mathematical processing of these 12 photographs the coronal structures of the varying brightness and different sizes are enhanced.
