Just seconds after this photograph of the diamond ring was taken the
landscape was floodlit with sunlight. The next opportunity to view
a total eclipse of the Sun is on
June 21,
2001 in Africa (Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Madagascar).
Before the eclipse started each member of the expedition was more or less
convinced that the total eclipse of August 11, 1999 was once in his or her lifetime chance
to see this outstanding phenomenon. However, as the first question that was
asked after the total eclipse ended was: "How much does a flight to Angola cost?",
this need not necessarily be true.
