Second Contact

At the beginning of total solar eclipse (the so-called second contact) the eye needs time to adapt to the profoundly modified light conditions. Light effects, such as the Bailey's beads and the red shining chromosphere, last for a very short period and it is the photograph that gives you a chance to fully appreciate the phenomena. The images have been processed using the technique described on the page detailing the method of processing an chromosphere image.
