Here are brief descriptions of the optional components that you can choose to install for VisualAge for Java, Enterprise Edition, Version 3.0. The core components of VisualAge for Java, such as the Integrated Development Environment (IDE), will always be installed.
External SCM Tools is a bridge that allows you to use an external software configuration management (SCM) system from within VisualAge for Java. Supported external SCM systems include VisualAge TeamConnection Version 3.0 as well as ClearCase 3.2 for Windows NT, from Rational Software Corporation, PVCS Version Manager 6.0, from INTERSOLV, Inc. and Visual SourceSafe 6.0, from Microsoft Corporation. You can add classes to source control, check classes in and out, and import the most recently checked-in version of a class into VisualAge for Java. The interface to the external SCM tools uses Microsoft's Source Code Control (SCC) API. It is supported for Windows NT, Windows 95, and Windows 98 clients.
Enhanced Database Support provides the ability to edit, import, and translate SQLJ files.
