This window is
used for adding, amending and deleting FTP client profiles. This page is divided
into sections to cover this topic easily and quickly.
Adding a Profile
Step 1
Each profile is
stored in a different file, but ScriptWorx performs all the hard parts for you.
You can have as many profiles as you need, each one for different sites for
instance. First, open the administration module, and click the "New"
button.
Enter a profile
name, but do not use special characters such as periods, commas, colons and
so on. Also, do not save a profile with the same name as another, because the
latter will be overwritten. You can use a through to z (any case) and 0 to 9.
The limit for the number of characters is 255.
Now, enter the
directory path of where the files containing your site are, this can be any
path that you wish, as you will have the opportunity to change it later.
The following is
optional: enter the name of the author of the site - this is helpful if you
share a computer.
Step 2
ScriptWorx requires
some technical details, however, you should have been supplied with these by
your web site host or by your network administrator. If you are unsure about
this, please contact them in the first instance.
FTP Server only
requires the name of the server, such as ftp.mydomain.com - don't include any
characters other than a - z, 0 - 9 and periods. Do not add a period onto the
end of the server name.
FTP Port is usually
21, although this can vary.
FTP Username and
Password should have been supplied to you, and you must enter them in these
boxes respectively. The password field has a mask so that your password cannot
be read by a passer-by.
FTP Directory may
or may not have been given to you. Normally it's fine if you leave it empty,
but if you are on GeoCities or Tripod, you may have to change this value. The
timeout value is normally set to 30000, but you can set a higher one if your
connection drops frequently.
Step 3
Press the "Save"
button, and your profile will appear on the list:
Step 4
Press the "Load"
button to start the FTP client.
Editing a Profile
To do this, simply
single-click on a profile in the list to load it, and then you can edit each
of the fields as to suit your requirements. When you have finished editing the
profile, click the "Save" button and it will update the settings for
you.
Deleting a Profile
This option
will delete the currently open profile when pressed.
Single-click the profile you wish to delete from the list, and then press the
"Delete" button. The module should update and the profile will no
longer appear in the list.
