ServerWorx 5 supports
Apache/NCSA style logs for each of the following. The logs are stored in the
same directory as the server, but the log filenames can be defined using the
ServerWorx Configuration tool - click
here for more information. These logs can be analysed using any log analyzer
that works with Apache logs.
Before beginning
this, please read this document "Choosing
a Directory to Host Your Site" first - it provides essential
security information.
Access Logs
Access Logs show
an account of every file requested on your server, including images and external
style sheets. Information recorded includes the IP address of the visitor, the
page requested, the time and date of the request and also the request method
used.
Agent Logs
This gives an account
of browsers used to request pages on your site. Most look like "Mozilla
4.0" with the text occuring after it indicating the actual browser and
operating system that a visitor used.
Error Logs
Error Logs show
you if anyone requested non-existent pages, tried to make an unauthorized access
or if the server couldn't respond because an unknown request was sent. This
is designed to help you troubleshoot and maintain your web site.
Referral Logs
Referral Logs provide
you with a list of sites that a user clicked a link on to get to your site.
With this you can see where most of your site traffic comes from, and even use
it as the basis for an affiliate program.
