Timed backup automatically makes a copy of the current file you are working on, every few minutes - which you can select in the Interface Options section of the Preferences option. Click the check-box to enable timed backup, and then select a time between one and ten minutes, followed by clicking "Ok".

Your backup files is called <<filename>>.bak - Where <<filename>> is the original filename of your document.
