Telnet Proxy/Server
Pro Server Only |
Telnet Proxy Overview The Sambar Server Telnet proxy functionality relays data between a telnet client and an remote telnet server. Using a telnet client, users can connect to the Sambar Server and at the telnet> prompt, type
connect hostname (where hostname is
the telnet server they wish to connect with). The telnet proxy will then
form a circuit between the client and the remote host. The following
commands may be issued at the telnet> prior to
connecting to the remote server:
Telnet Server Overview
Regretably, most of the DOS shell commands such as dir and del will not work in the telnet daemon. The MKS Toolkit utilities or GNU tools from Cygnus are more appropriate for use with the telnet daemon. Warning! Because telnet server directly executes commands from within the Sambar Server, the cd command should not be run as it can effect the server operation. Due to the potential for abuse, only the Sambar Server Administrator may login to the telnet server, and the administrator must be connect from a valid System Administrator IP address (configured via the config/config.ini).
