Internet Explorer supports the latest Web technologies, including Java, Dynamic HTML, XML, CSS, SMIL, JScript, VBScript, and Active Channels. This latest release offers a wide variety of new features. A new Radio Toolbar lets you listen to music and news broadcasts from around the world. A new "Autocomplete" feature automatically fills out Web forms. And when you type partial URLs into the address box, it now shows a drop-down list of sites from which you can choose. Searching has been enhanced. You can now type your query directly into the "Address" bar and browse the search results in an easy-to-understand pane on the left side of the screen. You can more easily select search engines, including ones for specific type of searches (such as Newsgroups or maps). And if you don't like the results from one, just click the "Next" button to send the search to the next engine. You can also quickly find new sites that are related to the one you're viewing. You can now search your History file for recently visited pages or browse the list, sorted by date, name, or number of times visited. Offline browsing has been improved. You can now save entire Web pages, including images, to browse at your convenience. You can set a schedule for updating offline pages and schedule downloads for off-peak hours. Outlook Express has been enhanced. It now offers designer stationery and it integrates with the HotMail Web-based e-mail service. Other features include: a print preview command, a customizable toolbar, support for multiple users, an enhanced "Favorites" bar, an improved Content Advisor. You can also select a default e-mail client, HTML editor, calendar program, and newsgroup reader. Note: the Active Setup file that you download will allow you to choose which options to download and install. The final size ranges from 8.5 to over 40 MB. This latest release provides faster page loading, better DHTML support, improved support for vertical text, and improved support for standards such as cascading style sheets (CSS), synchronized multimedia integration language (SMIL) and dynamic HTML (DHTML). Printing is now more reliable and faster, and a print preview function has been added. Additional language features are incorporated in JScript and VBScript, including component encapsulation, with behaviors and the overall development of applications making for richer experiences within the browser.
