ZIP files appear in your system as specially marked folders. The contents of the folders are actually the contents of ZIP files. You can use your normal file management tools (such as Explorer) to work with the contents of ZIP archives. Applications (such as your word processor or spreadsheet) can load or save documents directly in ZIP archives. You can also place shortcuts to files inside ZIP archives directly on your desktop or anywhere else. ZipMagic adds several commands to the shell context menu (which is available when you right-click on a ZIP or file). You can unzip files, add files to a ZIP file, convert a ZIP file to a folder, test ZIP files, repair ZIP files, edit comments and create self-extracting ZIP files. If you select a ZIP file and choose "Open With ZipMagic", ZipMagic's full-featured ZIP file manager window opens. You can perform more advanced zipping functions from there. Other features of ZipMagic include: a built-in graphics viewer, support for spanning Zip files onto multiple disks, the ability to create self-extracting Zip files, a built-in download manager for handling Internet downloads, anti-virus support, and a command-line option. ZipMagic can open ZIP, ARJ, LZH, Z, GZ, TAR, RAR, PAK, ZOO, CAB, ARC and DWC files and decode MIME/Base64, BinHex, Uuencode and Xxencoded e-mail formats. (ZipMagic was formerly called ZipFolders). This latest release sports a new user interface. There are additional wizards, backup support, antivirus support, a download manager for Internet downloads, advanced support for self-extracting Zip files, and enhanced e-mail support.
