- Filters
FileQuest lets you filter a folder to show only certain file types. To set a filter for a folder, select 'View / Set Filter'. To remove the filter from the folder, choose ' View / Remove Filter'.
FileQuest lets you add your favorite folders to the 'Favorites' menu. The 'Favorites Manager', located in the favorites menu, lets you manage your favorites based on your needs.
- Tools
You can add applications and world wide web addresses to the main menu. Choose ' Go / Add Tool' to add a tool to the 'Go' menu. The 'Tools Manager', located in the tools menu, lets you manage your applications and web addresses based on your needs.
- Reports
FileQuest lets you add pre-defined searches (reports), that you can run at any time. To add a report choose ' Tools / Add Report '. To run a report, choose ' Tools / Create Report'.
The concept of a personal folder is simple and powerful. A personal folder behaves just like a regular folder, but the files that it shows reside in many different locations on your hard drive. A personal folder groups files by criteria that you choose. For example you can define a personal folder that holds all of your text files and Word documents. To use personal folders, click on the 'Personal' tab in the Explorer bar. From here you can create personal folders, open them, update them, etc. You can also use the 'Personal' menu item in the main menu. You can update your personal folder in order to keep them in sync with the content of your hard drives.
You can also add files to personal folders by using cut & paste, drag & drop, etc.
- Rules
In FileQuest you can define Rules to automate your daily disk, file, and folder maintenance tasks, thus freeing valuable time for your real work. Choose ' Tools / Add Rule ' to create a rule. Choose ' Tools / Execute Rule' to run a rule. FileQuest allows for the safe execution of rules by giving you the option to preview the impact of your chosen rules.
- Easy creation of new folders
Creating a new folder is very easy. Just hit the Insert key.
- Drag and Drop
FileQuest is fully integrated with the Windows shell. Drag and drop is fully supported, behaving the way you have come to expect
- Customization
You can customize almost every aspect of FileQuest from the 'Tools / Options' menu. You can change colors, fonts, image sizes, or even set a wallpaper for FileQuest's background.
- Option to view multiple windows at the same time
FileQuest has two viewing modes. You can view up to 15 folders simultaneously, or you can view one folder at a time (Explorer Mode). To move between these two settings. Select 'View / Choose View Mode' from the main menu.
- Advanced file selection
FileQuest let you select groups of files according to filters that you define. For example, you can have FileQuest select all executable files from the Windows folder. 'Edit / Select ' invokes this feature.
- Task Bar
FileQuest has its own Task Bar for easy navigation between open folders. Every folder that you open will appear as a button at the bottom of FileQuest's main window. To move from one folder to another, click the button.
- Improved Run dialog
You can add applications to the 'Go' menu from the FileQuest run dialog, allowing for quick access to your favorite applications. To use it select, ' File / Run'.
- Easy access to Windows Disk operations
With FileQuest, you never have to spend time searching for a common disk operation again. The 'Disk' menu contains common disk utilities such as Format, Label, and Map network drive. You can even create your Windows emergency repair disk from this menu!
- Easy DOS window
Open a DOS window containing the path of the folder that you are currently viewing. Select 'Go / Command Prompt Here', advanced users can simply press F4.
