GUIDED TOUR
After starting the program, the World Map should
appear, along with the Amiglobe main bar. This main bar contains the main
commands to navigate on the map and to obtain information.
Zoom: Click on
and draw a rectangle around a country (France, for example). The map will
now show the part you have drawn. Hit the '+' key or move the
slider to zoom further. Cities, rivers and main peaks are then visible.
Moving: Click
on , then
click on the map while dragging the mouse to move on the map. To
get the arrow back, click on .
If your mouse features a middle button, keep the middle button pressed
to get the
Information: Click on a country; it will be filled
in green. Then click on :
a window is opened with the map of the country and data about it.
There are 9 categories:
general: the map of the country itself, with its
capital city. On the left there is the automobile country code, the flag,
and a button to hear the national anthem. To zoom on the country, click
on
geography: this category, like the others, display
26 out of 160 data about this country. It focus on the physical part of
the country, such as the area, the lowest and highest points, the climite,
the natural hazards, etc...
history: a text about the history of the country
people: Many data about population and population
structure, ethnic divisions, population density, etc...
government: It says what is the capital, the chief
of state, the internet code, etc...
overview: a description of the economy
economy: Here you can find key figures about the
economy such as the gross national product, imports, exports. Note that
you can choose the currency used to show money amounts.
transportation: The country capacity in transportations
(railroad, highways, airports) and communications (telephones, radios)
military: Some data about the army and its budget
Data comparison:
Select a numerical data (e.g. population density) and click on
in the info Window: this makes the comparison window appears. Then, click
on
to get the world map and on
to paint the map according to the population density.
