Your browser is currently using an auto-configuration file.   This file contains information that Webcelerator needs but does not have access to. To use Webcelerator you will need to get from your network administrator the information about your server. Then you will need to enter this information manually.

1. Get from your network administrator the address of the server you are to use.   This address could be in the form of a name or four numbers separated by periods.    Example:   145.0.0.8
   Also get the port number you are to use.

2. Enter your browser and open the network connections panel.   The method to reach this depends on your browser.

Choose your browser version:

• Internet Explorer 3®
• Internet Explorer 4®
• Internet Explorer 5®
• Netscape 3 ®
• Netscape Communicator®

Internet Explorer 3®

To adjust network connection settings in Internet Explorer 3®, click on the VIEW menu button and select "Options."   Select the "Connection" tab.

          VIEW
             -> Options
                -> Connection

On the "Proxy Server" panel you will see a check-box option to "Connect through a proxy server." Please check this box.   Press "Settings" to see the place for an HTTP address and port number.  Make an HTTP proxy setting of 127.0.0.1 and port number 24491.

Secure web pages, FTP sites, and gopher links will use direct internet connection at all times.   In the "Advanced" panel which shows your HTTP address you can specify other specific sites with which you wish to have a direct connection.

Internet Explorer 4®

To adjust network connection settings in Internet Explorer 4®, click on the VIEW menu button and select "Internet Options."   Choose the "Connection" tab.

          VIEW
             ->Internet Options
                -> Connection

Press "Configure" in the lower panel labeled "Automatic Configuration."   Delete the entry for the URL, and choose "Okay."   On the "Proxy Server" panel you will see a check-box option to "Access the Internet using a proxy Server." Please check this box.   Press "Advanced" to see the place for an HTTP address and port number.  Make an HTTP proxy setting of 127.0.0.1 and port number 24491.

Internet Explorer 5®

To view or adjust network connection settings in Internet Explorer 5®, click on the TOOLS menu button and select "Internet Options."   Choose the "Connections" tab.

          TOOLS
             -> Internet Options
                -> Connections

Select your connection from among those displayed in the Dial-up Settings window, then click on "Settings" to view or edit the details.

On the "Proxy Server" panel you will see a check-box option to "Use a proxy Server." When Webcelerator is installed this item will be chosen.   Press "Advanced" and make a HTTP proxy setting of 127.0.0.1 and port number 24491.

Netscape Communicator®

To adjust network connection settings in Netscape Communicator®, click on the EDIT menu button and select "Preferences."   In the left "Categories" panel, double-click the word "Advanced", then click on "Proxies."

       EDIT
          -> Preferences
             -> Advanced
                -> Proxies

On the right panel, delete the entry for the Automatic Proxy Configuration URL and check the "Manual Proxy Connection" option.    Press "VIEW" to see the place for an HTTP address and port number.  Make an HTTP proxy setting of 127.0.0.1 and port number 24491.

Netscape 3 ®

To adjust network connection settings in Netscape 3®, click on the OPTIONS menu button and select "Network Preferences."   Select the "Proxies" tab.

       Options
          -> Network Preferences
             -> Proxies

Delete the entry for the Automatic Proxy Configuration URL and check the "Manual Proxy Connection" option.    Press "VIEW" to see the place for an HTTP address and port number.  Make an HTTP proxy setting of 127.0.0.1 and port number 24491.

3. Double-click on the Webcelerator tray icon or launch Webcelerator through the program menu.  Open the Webcelerator "Settings" panel, then choose "Network Settings." Check the "Enable Proxy" option. Enter the server address you were given by your network administrator into the HTTP entry. Enter the port address you were given into the blank to the right of the HTTP address. Click "okay."

You should now be able to access the Internet through Webcelerator.
